ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNX) — A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 33-year-old Anaheim resident over his actions seen in a viral video showing the suspect abusing a dog.
Doorbell camera footage shared on social media last week showed the man storming toward and eventually physically attacking a dog in the hallway of Gateway Apartment Homes in Orange County.
The video was shared with Anaheim police by multiple sources, who quickly opened an investigation.
Detectives from the Anaheim's Criminal Investigations Detail working on the case identified 33-year-old Anaheim resident Albert Frank Abad, Jr. as the suspect.
Anaheim detectives coordinated with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, obtaining a felony warrant to arrest Abad for suspected animal cruelty.
Police described the suspect as 5’10” tall, 155 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has not been located, but officials believe he is still in southern California.
Police are also still attempting to find the dog, which they've been unable to locate, described as an all-black Goldendoodle.
Anyone with information on the location of Abad, or the dog in question is asked to call Anaheim PD Criminal Investigation detectives at 714-321-3669.
