The City of Beverly Hills is suing YouTuber Austin McBroom over the temporary shutdown of Rodeo Drive on May 29. That day, McBroom and a promoter used social media to organize a parade ahead of one of his events.

The lawsuit, according to Beverly Hills Chief Communications Officer Keith Stirling, names as defendants McBroom, fight promoter Sheeran Hasan, and Hasan's company, Fame by Sheeraz. The city is seeking $200,000 in damages for the "unruly gathering."

The damages are related to public safety costs and resources expended in responding to the shutdown, Stirling told KNX 1070.

McBroom and Hasan are said to have organized the "YouTube Takeover Parade" through social media, with phrases like "be ready to take over the streets," according to My News L.A.

Stirling confirmed to KNX 1070 that the parade shut down Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards or about and hour an a half, and no permits were ever requested or granted by the defendants.

KNX 1070 has reached out to McBroom to learn more about the events leading up to the parade, and the ensuing lawsuit. As of publication McBroom has not replied.
