SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) — The son of veteran NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar pleaded guilty on Thursday and was immediately sentenced to six months in jail for stabbing a neighbor of his Orange County home.
Adam Abdul-Jabbar, 29, of San Clemente, faced three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and a count of carrying a concealed dagger, along with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury.

The charges arose out of a June 2020 altercation between Abdul-Jabbar and his 60-year-old neighbor in the 300 block of Calle Guaymas in San Clemente.
The neighbor reportedly confronted Abdul-Jabbar in a shared driveway about the latter’s alleged failure to remove trash cans from the curb. An argument ensued, which turned violent, with Abdul-Jabbar repeatedly stabbing the older man with a hunting knife.
The victim’s wife drove him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a fractured skull and significant blood loss. He collapsed outside the emergency room and nearly bled out, O.C. prosecutors said.
O.C. District Attorney Todd Spitzer objected to the sentence, which he described as a "slap on the wrist" and an "absolute miscarriage of justice."
"This man nearly bled to death in front of the emergency room doors after being stabbed so violently over and over that his skull was fractured," Spitzer said in a statement. "The victim in this case has not only suffered serious physical issues, he is suffering from the trauma of having to relive this violent attack every day he walks out into his front yard. This is nothing short of appalling."
