Tuesday marked the start of “decorators week” for the Rose Parade floats.
Volunteers will head down to a facility in Irwindale to put finishing touches on the nearly 50 floats that will be part of the Rose Parade.

One of the managers told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener that decorators week tends to start off quiet.
“People will slowly be coming in today, but by the end of today and the rest of this week, we'll have tens of thousands of volunteers coming through the building, climbing the scaffolding, putting on all the various dry materials so that we can put on the floral later on in the week,” he said.
He added that there will be “hundreds of thousands of flowers per float.”

Kaitlin, another manager, said there are about 30 to 40 volunteers per shift helping out.
“We have two shifts a day, so about 80 people a day,” she said. “We'll push through it and get it done.”
Some of the floats people can look forward to this year is the UPS float, the city of Torrance Float, and the Louisiana Float. The Louisiana Float is 55 feet in length and 33 feet tall.
Stefan Pollack, president of the Pollack Group, told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener this is Lousiana’s third year in the parade.
“This gesture [on the float] has to kneel on the parade route because there's a freeway overpasses on the parade route, so it has to come down to under 16 feet in six seconds,” he said. “So we're still working on some of the hydraulics and the mechanic nature of the gesture kneeling so that we can then continue decorating.”
