There’s more pain at the gas pump for drivers in Los Angeles County.

The average price of a gallon of gas in Los Angeles is $5.43, which is six more cents than last week. It's the highest prices have been since November 2022, according to City News Service.

The average price of gas increased nearly 46 cents in the past 45 days, the AAA and Oil Price Information Service reported.

KNX News’ Jon Baird found two gas stations in Paramount that have some of the lowest prices in Los Angeles County at $4.79 and $4.75.

One man who drives his company’s car said it costs him over $150 to fill it up with gas.

“It’s still kind of taxing on us,” he said. “It’s painful.”

One woman, however, believes Californians are getting used to the high prices.

“A lot of people that are from other states, they get scared when they see our gas prices,” she said. “But I think we're pretty much getting used to it even though, you know, it's not a common thing.”

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, told KNX News it is going to take a while for gas prices to drop.

“Southern California does not make the transition to cheaper winter gas until October so that relief may be several weeks away,” he said. “But even before we start that transition, gasoline demand will likely be in decline to put down the pressure on prices before the transition even occurs.”

He added that continuing refinery issues in Southern California as well as Saudi Arabia and Russia announcing oil production cuts are putting pressure on prices.
