On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council passed a motion demanding an investigation into the city of Burbank and its police department after two officers were seen in a video “dumping” a distressed homeless man in North Hollywood.
The motion called on the California Attorney General, the L.A. District Attorney, and the L.A. City Attorney to investigate the video, which was filmed June 6, and determine whether it's an ongoing issue.
It also requests the city of Burbank to provide the city of L.A. with its policies on homelessness and what changes are being made because of the incident, City News Service reported.
On June 7, City Council President Paul Krekorian released security footage of the officers “dumping” the distressed man outside Krekorian’s North Hollywood office. The man was seen collapsing on the street when police drove away.
Krekorian told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener the motion passed on Tuesday is a demand by Los Angeles “for full disclosure and transparency.”
“We need to understand whether or not just Burbank, but frankly, all of our adjoining cities and other cities in Southern California are taking the steps necessary to try to just move people around but to address the actual underlying issues,” he said.

He added that he hopes the city of Burbank and Attorney General Rob Bonta take this seriously.
Krekorian previously said he expected to talk directly with Burbank's mayor after the video was released; however, he told KNX News the two have yet to have a face-to-face discussion about the video.
After the video was released, the Burbank Police Department said in a statement that it was conducting an in-depth investigation.
The city of Burbank released the following statement to KNX News:
"Due to the ongoing investigation, we will not be commenting further at this time. However, once the investigation concludes, we will be the first to share the information."
