With temperatures more than 10° below average, Los Angeles County has activated and opened its winter shelters for those in need through Oct. 31.

Temperatures hit around 60° with an expected low of 50° as a large storm passed through the region Monday — bringing temperatures that were just about 10 degrees below average for this time of year.

As a result the County opened “Weather-Activated Winter Shelters” to offer relief to Angelenos without shelter.

There are only two requirements to stay at a winter shelter — you must be at least 18 years old and you must be experiencing homelessness.

Pets and emotional support animals are welcome, but personal belongings will be limited to just two bags per person. Transport to shelters is limited, but available.
