LA County issues a warning about COVID-19 vaccine scams.
"There's a tremendous amount of misinformation circulating about the vaccine and vaccination opportunities," says Dr. Paul Simon who is the county's chief science officer. "It recently came to our attention that there was a scam advertising travel vaccine cards for purchase."
He points out the shots and the vaccine card are free.
"If someone is offering you a vaccination card that has a cost, please know this is a scam and you should cease contact with that person," he says.
Simon says another scam out there involves online vaccine surveys that offer respondents a reward, but asks them to pay shipping fees.
And if anyone tries to sell you a vaccination appointment, don't fall for it.
While vaccine supplies remain limited, Simon says more is coming. The county's getting close 340,000 doses next week. It's the biggest shipment yet, and that's expected to keep going up. He says if it jumps to 750,000 doses a week, most of the county's adults might be vaccinated by the end of June.
