The Los Angeles Police Department is asking the public for help finding a suspect wanted for auto theft and hit-and-run in downtown L.A.
Tajon Wright Freeman, 30, allegedly stole a Toyota Tundra in the area of 7th and Figueroa Streets on Feb. 20. As he fled the scene, police said he hit a woman who was crossing the intersection and did not stop to help her. The truck was later abandoned near the intersection of Bixel and Ingraham Streets.

According to police, the woman was admitted to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. She has since been discharged and is still recovering from her injuries.
Authorities identified Freeman as the driver of the stolen truck through DNA evidence found inside the vehicle. He was also identified through DNA evidence related to a West L.A. felony vandalism case, police said.
The District Attorney’s Office filed three felony charges against Freeman - felony vandalism, grand theft auto and felony hit-and-run.
Detectives said they have not been able to find Freeman because he is currently homeless.
LAPD has warned that Freeman is considered armed and dangerous. They advise anyone who recognizes him to keep away and immediately call 911 to report his whereabouts. Anyone with additional information on Freeman is asked to contact Detective Juan Campos at (213) 833-3713. To remain anonymous, call L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
