A man was shot in the lower body during a fight with a suspect in Long Beach, authorities said Wednesday.
Officers were dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a "shots" call, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

They located evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred, and later responded to a hospital where the victim was being treated for a non-life- threatening gunshot wound.

An investigation revealed the victim had been in a fight that escalated into a shooting. The suspect and victim fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. No other injuries were reported and the investigation was ongoing.
