Gaining weight comes easy for many of us, but for Mark Wahlberg it was a grueling job requirement for his latest role.

The 50-year-old had to pack on the pounds to play a boxer-turned-priest in his upcoming film “Stu.” During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Wahlberg disclosed the intense eating schedule he had to adhere to throughout production.

"Unfortunately, I had to consume for two weeks 7,000 calories and then for another two weeks 11,000 calories," the former rapper said. "It was fun for about an hour."

"It's such a hard, physical thing to do," he added. "Losing weight, you just kind of tough it out — you just don't eat, and exercise. And this, even when you're full, I would wake up after a meal and have another meal. I was eating every three hours. It was not fun."

While known for his insanely muscular physique, Wahlberg admitted going through drastic weight fluctuations for film roles has become more difficult to achieve as he’s matured.

"Once the metabolism slows down, it gets really difficult," he told Falllon. "I'd been trying to get this movie made for three years. We only had 30 days to shoot it. And so I wanted to really make it happen."

Prior to filming, Wahlberg elaborated on how he planned to add the weight.

"They want me to do it as healthy as possible, and I'm like, 'Dude, I've been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight,'" Wahlberg told Jimmy Kimmel.

"I want to go to bakeries. I want to go to Denny's. I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I can possibly get my hands on.”

In May, the actor formerly known as Marky Mark shocked fans as he revealed he put on 20 lbs for the role and shared an image showing his expanded waistline.

The side-by-side shots include one of “The Departed” star showing off his rippling abdominal muscles and bulging biceps next to a snap of the actor lying down with his hand on his softer and less defined stomach.

“From left photo 3 weeks ago to this, now,” he captioned the pic. “Thanks to @chef_lawrence_d cooking.”

According to his Instagram, Wahlberg has been hard at work getting his body back to its normally ripped status.

It’s all about keeping those “Good Vibrations.”
