A mother-daughter duo who allegedly performed illegal cosmetics procedures is now behind bars, accused of fatally injecting one client with uncontained, liquid silicone and fleeing the scene without informing paramedics of the procedure.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department arrested 51-year-old Libby Adame and her daughter, Alicia Galaz, 23, on Aug. 5, 2021. Their arrests come nearly two years after the death of Karissa Rajpaul on Oct. 15, 2019.

The mother and daughter allegedly performed the illegal injection on Rajpaul in Encino, according to CBSLA. The news station reported that the aspiring actress had shared several images of the procedures on her now non-existent social media account.
“The consequence of injecting uncontained silicone into the body is that it can enter the bloodstream and create embolisms which can result in serious illness or death,” LAPD said in a statement.
“The suspects fled the scene without identifying or informing the paramedics of the cosmetic procedure for proper lifesaving protocols to be initiated.”
Investigators indicated that Rajpaul ultimately died in the emergency room because physicians were unaware of silicone injection. Her exact cause of death has not been shared.
Adame and Galaz posed as specialists while allegedly advertising on Instagram and later performing the procedures at their clients’ homes, LAPD said.

The pair was arrested in the 5700 block of Baldwin Avenue in Riverside on Aug. 5 and booked on murder arrest warrants.
It’s unclear if their alleged involvement with Rajpaul was the first time the duo fled the scene after a procedure-gone-wrong.
Investigators are asking any other victims of the duo to come forward and share their stories with police. To do so, contact the LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division at (818) 374-9550 “even if it’s embarrassing to admit,” the department said.
