Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority rescued a crow tangled in a tree on Tuesday.

More than a dozen people in the Rancho Mission Viejo neighborhood kept a close eye on the crow until somebody finally called the fire department.

Sean Dorin, a fire captain with the OCFA, told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian they were able to use their ladder to get to the top of the tree.

“They were able to free it pretty quickly using some hand tools he had in his turnout pockets and the bird flew away with no issues and landed on a nearby house to get his bearings and then it seemed to fly off after that. No problems,” he said.

The crow was entangled in some sewing string stuck on the tree. A group of kids watched the firefighters free the bird and cheered as they watched it fly away.

Dorin said the OCFA has received quite a few animal-related calls, but it’s not necessarily a daily occurrence.
