Pete Davidson surprised his fans after hinting that he may be ready to leave his role on “Saturday Night Live.”
The “SNL” star and comedian, 27, sparked rumors of his departure during a comedian's roundtable discussion for The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly reported. Davidson suggested his days in Studio 8H may be numbered after he was asked about future seasons on the show.
"Yeah, I'm good. I'm surprised I made it to seven. I'm ready to hang up the jersey," Davidson said. "Kenan's like, f---in' Karl Malone out there," the actor said, referring to his "SNL" co-star Kenan Thompson’s 18-season run.
Davidson did not give any more details on whether he will continue working for "Saturday Night Live," but did speak about his time on the show.
"You get to see a lot of people at SNL, and there's this aura around Eddie Murphy where you're just like, 'Holy s---, that's Eddie Murphy.' [Adam] Sandler is like that, too, you just can't believe you're seeing him in person. I'd like the Eddie Murphy, Sandler career," Davidson said.
Earlier this month, the “Suicide Squad” actor said that he has been enjoying his transition into the film industry after revealing that he decided to burn off several of his tattoos.
“I honestly never thought that I would get the opportunity to act and I love it a lot,” the actor told late night host Seth Meyers. “You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much.”
Davidson starred in the semi-autobiographical “The King of Staten Island” in 2020.
