We’ll believe this when we see it.
Pete Davidson, 27, is in the process of having all his tattoos removed. And he tells PeopleTV today that the plan is to have them all off by the time he’s 30.
If you’ve seen Pete Davidson, and know anything about the arduous process of tattoo removal, this seems a very rosy prediction.
Given his previous comments about the decision to ice his ink, Davidson is very serious.
He’s described the procedures as not only painful, but embarrassing.
"Not only are they like burning off your skin,” Davidson has explained, “you're wearing these big goggles so you can't see anything. The doctor's in there with you. So before he goes to laser each tattoo, you have to hear him announce what the tattoo is to make sure if you want to keep it or not."
In a fun example of his dedication to the long removal and a healthier lifestyle, the comedian, writer, actor, and producer teamed up with bottled water brand, SmartWater, to help launch the first-ever Rehydration Day, today, July 5 — an entire day dedicated to getting Americans rehydrated and replenished after the highly-anticipated, post-COVID July 4th holiday weekend.
After having spokespersons like Gal Gadot and Jennifer Aniston, Davidson was floored when SmartWater approached him.
"After they called…,” Davidson admits, “I fell on the floor and started laughing for about three hours," he joked. "Honestly, as soon as I heard 'SmartWater brand deal', I went deaf."
But the jokester is taking the work seriously. “After the 4th of July, the world's first ever Rehydration Day is dedicated to get our nation back on its feet,” he said. “‘Cause [there] will be partying on July 4th... It's very important to stay hydrated the next day."
And for the commercial spot he made for SmartWater, Davidson -- never one to sugarcoat his delinquent past -- took to the tattoo removal chair to hilariously detail his other past regrets.
In the spot, he tells of a goofy runway modeling experience, living in his mom’s basement well into his 20s, and of course all those questionable tattoos.
“But, now I’m trying to make smarter choices. Like hydrating with SmartWater, and stuff like that," he says while sitting in a chair getting a tattoo zapped off.
Though he did say to PeopleTV host, Jeremy Parsons, that it's actually been "about four or five months" since his last session.
"I get my next treatment [in] like a month or so,” the comedian continued. “They said by the time I'm 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this."
During the interview, the SNL comedian also showed off his silver nail polish, explaining that he was offered a manicure at a recent photoshoot and couldn't pass up the opportunity. "When I was getting ready to leave, they were like, 'Oh yeah, those are gel, that's not going to come out for like three weeks."
"I think they're cool," he said, "But I wasn't aware that I would have them for so long."
It’s oddly comforting knowing that in this recent fit of healthy living, Pete Davidson can still make some rash decisions.
