Rain, cold, and some snow forecasted Wednesday and Thursday for the Inland Empire

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) — A storm system passing through the Inland Empire Wednesday night will dump rain and even some snowfall at higher altitudes. Stormy weather is expected to last through Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs in the Riverside area Thursday will be in the upper 50s with lows in the 40s. Coachella Valley temperatures will peak in the low 60s, with lows in the high 40s. Temecula Valley highs will reach the mid-50s with lows in the upper 30s.

Freezing levels are expected to remain at 6,500 feet in elevation or higher, but could dip overnight. A few inches of snow may fall in the mountain communities around San Bernardino National Forest.

“Gusty southwest to west winds” were forecasted in mountain areas, starting late Wednesday night and lasting through Thursday morning.

The storm system will move out of the region by Thursday night. The region should dry out over the weekend, but another storm developing off the coast of Alaska is expected to hit California by Monday night, according to the NWS.
