VAN NUYS (CNS) - A lawsuit brought by a woman who alleges the rapper Takeoff raped her in 2020 two years before his death was put on hold by a judge pending the outcome of probate proceedings for the late singer in Georgia.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Huey P. Cotton issued the order Tuesday. The plaintiff is identified only as Jane Doe in the complaint brought in August 2020 alleging Takeoff, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, sexually assaulted her during a party in an Encino home on June 23, 2020. The 28-year- old Takeoff, part of the Atlanta song trio Migos, was shot to death Nov. 1 at a Houston bowling alley.

An attorney for the woman previously said that his client will proceed against the singer's estate in the wake of his death. In his court papers in support of the stay, the lawyer stated that Takeoff's passing has "created a great deal of uncertainty in the matter" and that a stay is necessary to determine what the singer's estate intends to do as well as to "stave off multiple depositions as there is currently no defendant."

A petition to open a probate estate regarding Takeoff was recently filed in Georgia, according to the plaintiff's attorney's court papers.

According to the lawsuit, throughout the night Takeoff made several advances at Doe that she rejected. She later went to a bedroom to lie down, but despite her making it clear to the performer that she was not interested, he followed her into the bedroom and "forced himself on her and engaged in sexual intercourse," the suit alleges.

The judge scheduled a status conference regarding the probate issues on June 28.
