A 17-year-old girl died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the lobby of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s station in Industry Sunday night, deputies said.
It happened at 7:40 p.m. Authorities said the teen knocked on the door of the station. When she got inside, a struggle ensured between her and deputies.
Deputies say she grabbed a deputy's gun and shot herself.
Prior to the shooting, deputies responded to a family disturbance call on Clintwood Avenue. Then teen’s foster parents “reported that the juvenile was suffering from an apparent mental health crisis,” according to the department.

When deputies arrived, the teenager had left. The home and the station are a mile apart.
Deputies added that it is not clear whether the shooting was intentional.
It is unclear what prompted the girl to go to the sheriff’s station, but Sheriff’s Lieutenant Art Spencer said he believed it might have been connected to an incident that occurred before the shooting.
Miller added that he adopted the sister of the girl who died from foster care.
A sheriff's spokesman said the deputies were not physically hurt during the shooting but were traumatized by what happened.
The girl’s name has not been publicly revealed at this time.
