Look at the liner notes and writing credit on many of Justin Moore's albums and you'll see the names Rhett Akins and David Lee Murphy many times over.
Both singer-songwriters have had a hand in writing many contemporary country hits, and in the '90s they had numerous hits of their own. For Justin Moore, a huge fan of '90s country, it's a full circle moment to be creating music with his heroes.
“I’ve been friends with those guys for a long time, and we’ve written together for a long time," Justin shares in a statement from his label. "Rhett and I have had a lot of hits together. And I’ve written with DLM quite a bit too."
He got to collaborate with them again for his latest album, Late Nights and Longnecks. "But definitely having those guys be a part of it, they’re more knowledgeable than even me about '90s country," he continues. "Obviously, they were a part of it. I didn’t specifically tell them, ‘Hey, let’s write 90s country type stuff.’
"But the fun thing about writing with either one of those guys is, obviously I grew up listening to them, and to call them friends now and have their phone number in my phone and stuff, is beyond cool.”
