Tammy Wright has dedicated over 21 years to working in kidney transplant at Sharp HealthCare, with a strong passion for living kidney donation. Living kidney donation is a critical aspect of transplant programs, saving thousands of lives each year through this generous act.

Living kidney donation occurs when a living person donates one of their kidneys to someone in need. A living donor can give hope to someone with chronic kidney failure, offering freedom from dialysis and the ability to lead a more active, healthier life.

For over 30 years, Sharp’s Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program has transformed the lives of thousands of San Diegans and their loved ones. They have performed over 2,500 kidney transplants, achieving one of the highest success rates in the country.

Their goal is to provide as many opportunities as possible for a donor match. In addition to direct donation, we also participate in kidney-donor chains that match donors and recipients across the country. Tammy Wright, Kidney Transplant Specialist at Sharp Memorial, discusses live kidney donation.
