The Padres dropped Wednesday's affair against the Rockies as Walker Buehler struggled mightily in his fifth start in brown and gold. After allowing just two earned runs over 11 innings in his preview two starts, he allowed four earned runs on eight hits and three walks in just 2.2 innings. The Padres actually jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Jackson Merrill's 1st-inning RBI-single. But Colorado scored four runs on six hits and a walk in the 2nd inning. With a runner on first base and two ours, Buehler allowed three consecutive singles, followed by a double, a walk and an infield single, before recording the final out of the inning while leaving the bases loaded. Buehler would once again load the bases in the third inning before exiting the game with two outs. Kyle Hart entered the game and was able to escape the jam without allowing a run to score. San Diego's offensive woes continued, as they went 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base. Luis Campusano was a bright spot however, as his breakout campaign continued. The Padres' backstop collected three hits, including his second long ball of the year. Matt Waldron will start for the Padres in Thursday's rubber match.
