Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego will open its doors to the local community on Saturday, October 22nd, for the 20th year of their annual Boot Camp Challenge. This 5k is a 3-mile obstacle race where runners can experience some of the mystiques of Marine Corps Boot Camp and negotiate the some of the same obstacles used in Recruit Training. What makes this event most unique are the 60 plus Drill Instructors who are there to “encourage” participants throughout the course. Drill Instructor Staff Sergeant Redfield discusses what to expect from this event, safety precautions, and the opportunity for the Marines to connect with our community.
