The San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 44 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average,400,000 people per month in San Diego County. The Food Bank's mission is to provide nutritious food to people in need, advocate for the hungry, and educate the public about hunger-related issues.
During the pandemic, millions of individuals throughout the state received additional funding through CalFresh to help the rising cost of groceries and inflation but those additional benefits are coming to an end next month. This will result in an average of $200 less a month for groceries for the average family and will be a huge impact for already struggling families.
