Sam Hunt’s latest single pays tribute to one of his biggest inspirations in his life. Appropriately titled, “Women In My Life,” Hunt dedicates the tune to all the women who have inspired his creativity across the years.
LISTEN NOW: Sam Hunt shares how the Women in his life inspire him most
Admitting the clichés of women in most Country songs are “unattainable,” Hunt says he’s been inspired throughout his career to write about the powerful women he knows, “not the unattainable girls from magazines or movies.”
“There’s so many clichés of the women that people write towards and it’s always the unattainable [and] idealistic — everything is just perfect,” he told Audacy’s Rob + Holly. “I’ve always connected more with women who have been through some things [and] lived life a little bit, so that’s kind of the character I tend to imagine when I’m writing songs.”
While the women with life experience tend to inspire him most, there’s one little girl who has captured his heart with only 14 months down and many more to go. His daughter, Lucy Louise.
”Just in the past couple months she’s started to come alive and really connect with me a little more,” Hunt said of his daughter and the personality she’s starting to show. “It’s hard to tell exactly who she is going to be — or those kind of deep-rooted personality traits… but she’s happy, she’s having fun and she has a lot of joy in her heart, so that’s a good sign.”
The joy is about to double in the Hunt family as Lucy will become a big sister in the coming months. Sam announced he and wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, are expecting baby #2 during a show in Las Vegas last April, with his rep confirming the exciting news to Billboard the next day.
As the family waits patiently for the new bundle of joy to arrive, Sam says he’s being careful not to let time get away from enjoying the moments he has now. “You gotta be careful with wanting to hit that fast forward button,” he shared. “There are days where you feel like you’re feedin’ them those small little bites and she’s gotta whole bowl left and ugh [rolls his eyes while laughing]. It doesn’t get monotonous, because tomorrow, she’s a new little girl so you’re not even dealing with the same little person you were yesterday.”
