The Padres' offensive struggles continued on Thursday, when they lost 7-1 to the Brewers, with their lone run coming in the 9th inning while trailing 7-0 at the time. Griffin Canning allowed three runs in each of the first two innings, putting the Padres in a deep 6-0 hole. Canning wasn't able to complete the 2nd inning, recording just five outs. Brewers starter struck out seven Padres over five scoreless innings, as the Padres' offense struck out 10 times. Fernando Tatis Jr. continued to struggle at the dish, going 0-5 with 3 strikeouts. After allowing six earned runs in 2.2 innings of work, Matt Waldron struck out four without issuing a walk in two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to help preserve the Padres' high-leverage arms. The Padres now fly to Seattle for a weekend series with the Mariners beginning on Friday.
