Bucks County vows crackdown on drunk driving for Super Bowl Sunday

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) -- Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub is reminding everyone heading out to watch the Super Bowl that there will be patrols out looking for drunk drivers.

“We want you to watch the game, have a great time with friends and family, but do so safely," Weintraub said. "There are so many alternatives out there to driving drunk: Carpool, stay where you are, get an Uber or Lyft, call a cab. Just have fun, but do it safely.”

Weintraub says the patrols are planned in Upper, Central, and Lower Bucks County, adding the intent here is not to make a bunch of arrests.

“We have all the cases we need to prosecute at this point," he said. "We’re not looking for more. We’re just looking to make sure that people are aware we’re out there to serve as a deterrent. But if need be we will lock you up, and there’s a chance, even if it’s your first offense, you could go to jail for driving drunk.”
