Nick Martino was a PennDOT assistant district engineer who worked eight years out of the King of Prussia office.
He will now serve nine to 23 months of home confinement, pay a $10,000 fine and serve 50 hours of community service for his guilty plea to accepting bribes from a contractor.
State Attorney General Josh Shapiro's office says a tip led to a statewide investigating grand jury uncovering 53-year-old Martino's corrupt activities as well as those of other PennDOT officials.
"This state official used state tax dollars in order to get a payout for himself," said Joe Grace, a spokesman for Shapiro's office. "He accepted bribes and he let a contractor not perform their work."
Grace says several state employees connected to the corruption scheme cooperated with prosecutors.
"This investigation resulted in guilty pleas from two business owners - two contractors - who were doing business with PennDOT," Grace said.
Prosecutors claimed the contractors overcharged PennDOT by submitting bogus mileage reports and boosting the hours on contracts for jobs.
