PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Many who have been exposed to COVID-19 and have gotten through the battle with the virus are expressing interest in donating convalescent plasma to help others.

Convalescent plasma is the liquid part of the blood, and in individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, it is potentially valuable because it contains antibodies against the virus — antibodies that were formed by the recovered individual after they beat the virus.

Convalescent plasma is being investigated for the treatment of COVID-19 because there is no approved treatment for the disease and it's thought it may be helpful for people attempting to recover.
