CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester man was convicted Friday of killing two of his co-workers and injuring three others in a rampage shooting at a Delaware County linen store a little more than two years ago.
Prosecutors said 63-year-old Wilbert Rosado-Ruiz would have killed more people back on the morning of May 24, 2024, had his handgun not jammed.
A jury convicted Rosado-Ruiz of two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder for the rampage shooting he carried out at his job of 10 years at Delaware County Linen in Chester.
Rosado-Ruiz shot and killed brothers Leovanny and Giguenson Peña Peña, and then injured three others. Officials said he tried to shoot a fourth co-worker, but the gun jammed. He then fled the scene and was arrested not long after by a police officer near his home.
Rosado-Ruiz’s defense tried to say the Peña Peña brothers were the aggressors, cornering him and threatening the lives of him and his family, but eyewitness testimony and surveillance video showed the opposite. The video showed Rosado-Ruiz yelling he was “tired” of his coworkers before pulling out a gun and shooting.
His first-degree murder conviction carries a life in prison sentence. Rosado-Ruiz will be sentenced in October.
