Colorectal cancer rates in people over 50 has been falling

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Colorectal cancer is more common in people older than 50, but there is good news for this group: rates have been falling in recent years. 

We can give credit to increased screening, which can prevent some cases by finding precancerous growth. 

But there is bad news among those younger than 50.

Colorectal cancer rates have risen since the early '90s. Studies suggest that eating habits and obesity play a role. If you're a young adult, choosing a healthy diet and managing your weight can help. However, this can also help for many other health conditions as well.
