PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There is an interesting study looking at the value of wearing masks and social distancing.

According to researchers at the University of Washington, about 55% of Americans are now wearing masks on a consistent basis.

We have a long way to go to reach the percentage in places like Singapore, which is now at 95%, but there is growing information that this is cutting down on spread.

Another study out of Texas finds that over 1.5 million deaths have been prevented worldwide due to success in this preventive tool.

Of course, there are still 45% in our country not taking advantage of masks and social distancing as lifesaving tools, and the U.S. represents 23% of deaths in the world.
