Why you should take time for yourself —especially during the pandemic

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — How is your summer going? How is 2020 going? It’s easy to join the millions who are cursing the past year, and I certainly can't blame anyone for frustration. 

For many, COVID-19 has cost a job, even a career and far worse, the life of a loved one. 

For all of us, it has become an unsettling reminder of how vulnerable we are especially as we get older or have been battling underlying conditions. 

Numerous studies have shown that negative thinking and depressed mood, as well as anxiety and stress, have a negative impact on our hearts and even our immune system. 

It’s far easier said than applied to our lives, but it’s important to take time to recognize the things that used to make you happy before the pandemic.
