PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It's that time of year again for hungry foodies: Center City District Restaurant Week.
It happens twice a year — once in the winter and once in the fall — and lasts more than a week, unlike the name suggests.
This season, Restaurant Week takes place from Jan. 13 to 25, and Kelly McAllister points out there are nearly 130 participating restaurants.
CCD Restaurant Week starts January 13! Get ready for three-course lunch for $20 and dinner for $35 at participating restaurants throughout Center City. New this season: Sedition, @FatSalmonSushi, @missiontaqueria, Bai Wei, @IronHillBrewery, and @GiuseppeSons. #CCDRW
— CCD Restaurant Week (@PhilaRestWeek) January 10, 2019"It started in 2003 with probably less than 20 participating restaurants at that time," said McAllister, CCD's senior manager of retail marketing.
One thing that hasn't changed over the years, however, is the price — $20 for lunch and $35 for a minimum three-course dinner.
"A lot of the steakhouses are definitely popular choices," she said. " R2L, Del Frisco's."
As for new restaurants: "We have Bai Wei, Giuseppe & Sons, Mission Taqueria, Sedition."
If you're driving in for Restaurant Week, CCD also has a list of participating parking lots and garages that offer parking for $9 or less.
And if you don't want to go anywhere, at the very least, you can always check out the Restaurant Week photos on your favorite social media platforms.
"We do encourage people to post their food shots and use the hashtag #CCDRW (Center City District Restaurant Week) and we will repost that."
