PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 19-year-old woman is in critical condition after her car crashed into the back of an unoccupied school bus in West Philadelphia Tuesday morning.
Police say around 11 a.m., an 18-year-old man was driving eastward in a black Scion on Chestnut Street near 59th Street when swerved into the left lane, striking a black 2003 BMW. The driver of the BMW — the 19-year-old woman — slammed into and then under a parked school bus.
There was no one on the bus at the time.
A medic unit transported her to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.
A multi vehicle accident is tying up the intersection of 59th and Chestnut in the Cobbs Creek section of the city. A car is currently stuck under a school bus and emergency crews are on the scene responding. @KYWNewsradio #KYWTrafficWatch

November 5, 2019 Cheryl Yarbrough-Lee was working nearby when the crash happened.
"We hear the crash; a co-worker ran out of the building. We proceeded behind her and she actually went on the driver side of the car, and the lady was in and out of responsiveness," she said.
A block-long stretch of Chestnut Street was shut down for more than three hours for the investigation.
