PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Brandywine Valley SPCA is hosting two drive-thru pet food pantries next week in Chester and Delaware counties for those in need of cat or dog food during the coronavirus pandemic.
"A lot of people have been impacted financially during the pandemic, so we want to make sure they have pet food to take care of their pets," said Linda Torelli, Brandywine marketing director.
"All folks need to do is come to the site in their vehicle," she explained. "We'll ask from a safe 6-foot distance about their pets while they're still in their vehicle, and then our folks will pull the appropriate food, put it into their hatchback or back seat, and then folks go on their way."
Food storage and transportation will be provided by Terra Technical Services.
The pet food drives are as follows:
Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Coatesville Area Senior High School
1445 Lincoln Highway East
Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Chester Township Municipal Building
1150 Engle St.
"So many families are facing sudden, unexpected financial challenges during this pandemic, and they need their pets by their side now more than ever," added Adam Lamb, Brandywine CEO.
So far, the Brandywine Valley SPCA has distributed more than six tons of pet food to families in need and sent four truckloads of pet food to other shelters.
