Cherry Hill plans virtual Memorial Day tribute

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Cherry Hill Township takes on a new approach to its traditional Memorial Day tribute. Those who paid the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered virtually this year due to the pandemic.

"You are going to face a lot of challenges throughout your life but you know at the end of day your freedom is always protected," said Mayor Susan Shin Angulo.

That's the Memorial Day message she wants people to walk away with as the township prepares for its online tribute to the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. This year's tribute features comments from council members, some with their own personal stories about family members who once served.

There will also be vocal performances from area high school students and video presentations of lost ones, as well as tributes from the fire and police departments.
