Jim Harteis knows what it means to need help paying tuition because he did back in the 60's. Now, he's helping others at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown stay in school, even though times are tough and finances are slim.
Freshman Dan Church of Philadelphia wouldn't be in school without such generosity.
"Two years ago, coming into college, my mom passed away. So it was difficult for me. That was my sole caregiver, like my backbone," Church said.

He is also suffering from seizures and the violent death of his best friend and his cousin, but with the emergency financial aid, his life plan is still on track.
"Five years from now, hopefully I will be starting law school, because i want to be a lawyer or a cop. I want to be a detective, not just a regular cop, so hopefully I'll be starting my second degree," he said.
The aid is a gift that doesn't have to be repaid.
