State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, a Bucks County Democrat, said during a virtual news conference late Tuesday afternoon that a letter had been drafted asking the governor to allow statewide curbside sales, and that 16 Senate Democrats and at least 40 state House Democrats had signed on to it.
Santarsiero said curbside service is already being done with alcoholic beverages, groceries and restaurant food.
“And we have discovered because we’re doing that that it could be done in a way that is safe,” he said.
Just hours before the press conference, Wolf made good on his threat to veto three bills passed by the legislature last week.
One of those bills would have given counties the authority to reopen businesses. The other two bills vetoed by the governor would have allowed certain other businesses to reopen, and would have allowed real estate activity to resume.
