MARLTON, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — So you want to get together with a few close friends, but the pandemic is making you think twice about inviting them over — what do you do? One New Jersey expert has some advice on how to safely gather with friends.
Dodi Iannoco, lead nurse practitioner in Virtua Health's Urgent Care network, said some suggestions are just common sense: Limit the number of people to a precious few (like no more than six), keep them socially distanced with masks on, and above all else, don't do it inside.
"That could be your backyard, your back deck, a park and it just allows people to spread out a little bit further," Iannoco said.
Have a Plan B if the weather gets bad — either a plan to cancel or a plan to move to a place outside where you can duck under.
Everyone should bring their own food, too. Chips and dip are off the menu. In fact, nothing should be shared.
Now, if somebody has to use the bathroom?
"If you have your restroom stocked with disinfecting wipes so they can wipe down things that they touch," she added. "Obviously anti-bacterial hand soap, individual towels, potentially paper towels or some type of disposable towels. That's going to be better for everyone."
And when everybody goes home, make sure you, as the host, thoroughly clean up.
