CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson is expressing condolences to the family of the 17-year-old girl who was struck and killed by a patrol car Wednesday night. But the family is demanding more than sympathies.

Thomson said he can't say much about the specifics of how a patrol car struck and killed 17-year-old Woodrow Wilson High School senior Nerreada Robles, because the county prosecutor is investigating. He did say the officer was responding to a call.

"I can tell you that as an organization, I just met with some of the family and expressed our deepest sympathies and condolences for this tragic loss of life," he said. "We're doing everything we can to try to help them through this extremely challenging time."

Thomson did not identify the officer driving the car that struck Robles at the intersection of East State Street and Harrison Avenue, though he said the officer was put on administrative duty.

The police officer was responding to a call, and the vehicle’s lights were on.

Members of Robles' family approached reporters outside police headquarters, throwing down a Ford nameplate — presumably from the cruiser involved in the fatality.

"All the evidence is right in the pieces of the car, right there," shouted a family member.

Family members demanded that police release the dashcam video from the patrol car.
