Fiery car crash on Henry Avenue kills 1

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A fiery car crash on Henry Avenue Friday morning has left one driver dead.

According to police, a car, which was stopped at a red light at Dupont Street, was struck by a gray Chevy Malibu around 9:15 a.m., driven by a 62-year-old man. 

The car that was struck spun out of control into the northbound lanes of Henry Avenue and then caught fire.

The person was unable to get out of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene around 9:30 a.m. The identity of the person inside the car is still unknown. 

The condition of the 62-year-old driver is unknown.

Henry Avenue is closed in both directions between Dupont Street and Leverington Avenue.

Henry Avenue is shut down between Leverington and Dupont due to a nasty accident.
