Another round of paper checks is going out later this month. IRS says the best way to get the money sooner is to use the “Get My Payment” tool on the IRS website to add bank account information for direct deposit.
Anyone who filed a tax return in 2019 and 2018 is automatically enrolled in the program if they are eligible for the payments. Non-filers may be eligible, too, and they can use the non-filer page to update their information.
After information is updated, people will get an estimated payment date. Paper checks are being sent to those who don’t put their bank information into the system, but they will not be sent until later this month or early June.
The government says beware of scammers. Be sure to use only IRS.gov. The IRS will never send unsolicited emails with attachments to open or ask for your bank information in an email or on a phone call.
