More than 15,000 people have died from coronavirus in New Jersey.

Watching the number of new cases surge in the rest of the country, Murphy said he doesn't want to see that happen in New Jersey, and that's why he walked back plans to allow indoor dining to resume.

"Even one knucklehead bar can ruin it for everyone. It only takes one match to start a wildfire. And it only takes one infected bar-goer to ignite a COVID-19 flare-up that then shuts everything else all back down,” he said.

As for July Fourth celebrations, Murphy advised residents to use common sense and avoid indoor gatherings and wear face coverings.

The state now has a total of 171,928 positive coronavirus cases.
