PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Final preparations are underway for Philadelphia's 100th Thanksgiving Day Parade — the oldest in the country — but it's still a new experience for some.

Grammy Award-winning singer Macy Gray said this will be her first time performing in a parade, and she's looking forward to it.

"I have a float and dancers and a choir and all this other stuff. And they are going to do all this stuff while I'm standing there," she laughed.

Gray couldn't say what she'll be singing, but it'll be a bit of a surprise for the other performers involved, too.

Many of the dancers and singers performing in musical numbers in the parade have never met before. They learn their parts by way of the internet. It all comes together at a rehearsal the day before the parade.

Macy said she rented a house in the area and is excited to spend Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. She'll return to Los Angeles this weekend, where she said she'll get ready for Christmas.
