PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A two-hour standoff has ended in Frankford, after police shot and killed a man who was firing at them.

Around 1 p.m., authorities say two state parole officers were serving a warrant to the man, who then fired back at them.

After a brief chase, Deputy Commissioner Robin Wimberly said the man locked himself inside a house on the 4600 block of Hawthorne Street and continued to fire at the officers for about two hours.

“SWAT responded to the job, tried to make contact with the male. The male came to the window, began firing upon the SWAT officers. SWAT officers returned fire, and the male was struck,” she said.

The suspect died inside the house.

The threat is over. In a subsequent exchange of gunfire with SWAT personnel, the subject was struck. He was pronounced by @PhillyFireDept personnel at 2:52 PM. We are not not seeking any additional suspects. No injuries to Police or uninvolved civilians.
