Port Richmond man charged with murder for shooting man who broke into his trailer

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man in Port Richmond has been charged with murder after officials say he gunned down a man who broke into his parked trailer.

Around 3:45 Wednesday morning, authorities say Quoc Ngo looked out his window and saw a man in his trailer, which was parked on East Somerset Street near Edgemont Street. Ngo, 37, grabbed his gun and went to confront the man.

Law enforcement sources say surveillance video and witnesses outline what happened next:

Ngo fired at the man — 39-year-old William Putt — who tried to escape the gunfire, but Ngo continued to shoot. He eventually struck Putt in his shoulder and back as he ran away.

Putt was killed.

Ngo is now charged with murder, as well as reckless endangerment, gun offenses, and tampering with evidence.
