The program has been around since 1971 and has delivered more than $7 billion to Pennsylvania residents to help reimburse them for tax and rent payments.
Jeffrey Johnson, the department's spokesman, says the state program helps seniors and the disabled pay their property taxes or rent.
Johnson says there are income guidelines and age and disability requirements as well.
"The easiest way to apply is to go to our website and download an application form. But you can also go to a number of locations, including our district offices and state legislators' offices," he explained.
Johnson says if you've gotten the rebates before, you must reapply every year. And, if it's your first time, he says it's worth checking out.
"The maximum standard rebate is $650, but there are other supplemental rebates for certain qualifying homeowners that can boost it up to $975," he added.
Johnson says there are eligibility requirements.
"The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and it's $15,000 annually for renters and half of Social Security income is excluded," he said.
The filing deadline is June 30.
