PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)  The coronavirus pandemic has pushed what would traditionally be an in-person exhibit for collegiate art students into a virtual one.

In normal times, Ashley Monteiro would be presenting her senior thesis project — an illustrated children's book — in the gallery at Moore College of Art & Design, where the public, and maybe even employers, would see it.

But with the school building closed because of the pandemic, all 70 thesis projects from Moore seniors are going online starting Friday at Moorethesis.com

For Monteiro, an illustration major, the coronavirus closure meant she couldn't use the printing press at school to ink her copper etchings.

Monteiro said even if her work is presented in a different form, she's been anticipating the chance to share her senior project.

"I've been looking forward to this moment since freshman year. After seeing all of the past seniors that have graduated before me and going to their shows, it's something I've always looked forward to,” she added.

She said there are limits to just how much can be shown online, but said her book may reach an even wider audience on the web.
