Shoppers at the Rainbow clothing store on South 24th Street were shocked when the SUV barreled into the otherwise relaxed store.
"I was looking around and then not only three minutes later did I hear a big bang and it was a crash. I thought it was a gunshot honestly," said Elaine Dabbundo.
"I was worried about the kid. I ain't care about anything else. I wasn't worried about anything else. I was worried about the kid," Garcia said.
Garcia and others attempted to get the vehicle off of the teenager before someone arrived with a jack to finally lift the SUV. It revealed a gruesome scene that left Garcia and others feeling helpless.
"What can you do? It's a little kid. You understand what I'm saying. And you can't do anything for them and it's unfortunate," he said.
A 57-year-old woman suffered neck and back injuries and two other girls suffered minor injuries. They have been transported to a hospital for evaluation.
The 71-year-old driver was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for observation. The unnamed 16-year-old was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition.
"I have two children myself and I can't even imagine how their families are feeling," Dabbundo said.
