PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Census forms must be completed by the end of the month. About 85% of New Jersey's population is accounted for so far.

Gov. Phil Murphy wants to remind everyone what's on the line.

"We know we were under dramatically under-counted last time. Because we were, it has cost us billions and billions and billions, literally, of dollars in federal aid," he said.

Census workers are going door to door to speak with people who haven't yet filled out their forms, said the governor.

"Census takers are members of your own community and the responses you give are safe and secure under federal law and cannot be used against you in any way," he added.

Murphy said if residents don’t want census workers coming to their doors, they should go to the 2020 Census website and self-respond so their addresses are removed from the list.
